Many people have trouble making money from their forums. Their forum is getting thousands of unique visitors monthly, yet they just can’t seem to make that desirable amount of cash they want from it. Here are some ways on how you should properly monetize your forum in order to make money from it:

1) Subscriptions

Setup some paid subscriptions on your forum and give your users a reward for subscribing. The rewards can be anything really – a private section for donors only, a rank badge that shows they contributed, a bold user name, a colored user name, a private message inbox with more space, or something they can download and enjoy. You just need to be creative. As for subscription pricing, you should make it on a monthly basis. Don’t overprice it but instead, make it extremely inexpensive and affordable. More users are likely to subscribe if the price is right, allowing you to earn more money.

2) Sell Advertising Spots

Probably the most effective way of generating revenue from a forum is by selling advertising spots. Look for people who are in the same related niche as you, and contact them. Ask them if they’d be interested in having their ad on your forum in exchange for money. If you don’t like the idea of contacting other people asking them if they want to advertise on your forum, you can post on webmaster/marketplace forums and announce that you’re opening up adverts spots on your site.
